Rumored for awhile and confirmed at WonderCon, long time Marvel super heroine Ms Marvel will now be called Captain Marvel. This evolution comes complete with a new costume and a new title and I like it!
For those of you who don’t like it, tough. Colors and logos and even the stash are all still represented. She is dressed like a warrior. Ms, sorry, Captain Marvel is Marvel’s answer to Wonder Woman and should be an equally as well known character. Your mother, your grandmother knows who Wonder Woman is; but they have never heard of anything called Captain Marvel. Maybe if your grandfather is old enough he’ll think you mean the Big Red Cheese.
As a character who should be seen as the strongest woman in the Marvel Universe this costume is perfect. Fully covered and clothed, hair wrapped back for battle, and of course this image which is channeling Rosie the Riveter.
The title of Captain means honor, respect, leadership and an expectation to be a role model at all times in all aspects of your life. Carol Danvers will have no problem living up to that title.
